Saturday 3rd July, 2021 the Cross-River state chapter of National Council of Enugu State Students (NACESS world-wide) played host to its National President, Comr. Onah Joseph Onyemaechi, the national executive council, Senate arm, Traditional Council and aides to the Governor of Enugu State.

The president of NACESS Cross River State, Comr. Mike Odenigbo who also doubles as the National Senate President of the council in his bid to promote the Cultural Heritage of Enugu and as well the peaceful nature of the Governor of Enugu State Rt Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi, organized the 1st non-indigenous state students cultural fiesta at Marine Garden, Calabar which saw some outstanding Enugu citizens in Cross-river being recognized such as Prof Chris Chukwura, Prof Cecilia Ekwueme, Prof Uche Amalu (Fmr VC Unical), Comr Onah Joseph Onyemaechi, Hon Monday Diamond Ani, Hon Prince Tochukwu Nwanjoku, and others for their remarkable contribution to Enugu citizens and students in Cross-River State.

Prof. Cecilia Ekwueme (Dean Faculty of Education, Unical) in her speech thanked the Governor of Enugu State for his tremendous leadership strides in the state while appealing to him for an extension of his love to the Enugu state community in Cross-River, she further thanked the governor for making sure students have a sense of belonging through his initiatives in form of empowerment programs and scholarship schemes in the state under his stewardship.

Prof. Chris Chukwura in his remark appreciated the National body of the students for their visit to the state while expressing his deep gratitude to the government of Enugu State which he categorized as an open door and transparent government.

In line with the cultural fiesta 4th July, the NACESS Cross River State chapter led her National President, its National executives and aides to the governor to the palace of the Eze Ndigbo Na Cross-River state, His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Emmanuel Ezenwenyi (Eze Ana Emenwu Oku Ona Enwu Enwu).

The National President, Comr. Onah Joseph Onyemaechi in his discourse with special appreciation to Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi thanked His Royal Highness for his warmth reception, his leadership towards the Igbo community from Enugu while also appreciating his love and support towards the students of Enugu state in cross River State.

He further unveiled the plans and programs of the council for her students outside the state and as well brought to the notice of His Royal Highness the great works of the Executive Governor of Enugu State in the area of security of students, scholarship, bursary and loans for all students of Enugu state descent.

The SA to the Governor Hon Monday Diamond Ani in his own remark on behalf of the Governor, commended the traditional ruler for his tireless efforts towards the interest and defense of Ndigbo.

He also thanked him for upholding the traditional integrity and
cultural heritage of the Igbo Nation in far away Cross River State as it concerns peace, security, youth Inclusion and economic progress of Enugu State and as well appealed to them to always come to Enugu State for business and relaxations purposes hence Enugu state being the safest in Nigeria with economic ease of doing business.

Comr. Odenigbo Mike the Cross River State Representative in the Senate Council and also the Senate President of the council who presented an award of excellence to the Executive Governor of Enugu state on behalf of the entire Students of Enugu state in Cross River in expression of confidence and show of appreciation in leadership excellence of His Excellency – stated that the entire Enugu state students studying in Cross River state are solidly behind him as long as he remains the council’s Grand Patron under the ebullient leadership of Comr. Onah Joseph Onyemaechi.

In response, The Traditional Ruler praised the Leadership style of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Dr. Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi describing him as the Best Governor in Nigeria. He further stated that if every governor in South East and the country could be steadfast in the empowerment and inclusiveness of the youth in leadership then the nation will be progressing towards a healthy future.

In his exact words, “that man, the Enugu State Governor is a fine gentle man who is so outstanding as a Governor, even though Enugu State is a non oil producing State, yet he performs wonders, he manages the people and economy of his State very well and this has made him the Best Governor in Nigeria”.

Present at the Eze Ndigbo’s Palace were; Prof.Chris Chukwurah, Prof. Uche Amalu, Engr. Ifeanyi C. Onyeabor, Chief Dr. Paul A. Odoh, Chief Ikechukwu Eze, Prince Patrick Onwuka, Sir Emmanuel Onwe, Comr. Gogo Ibekwe.

Also present were; Pharm Sam Onyeaka (President General of the Igbo Community in Cross River State), Chief Festus Odoemena (Chairman Ohaneze Ndigbo Cross River State) Dr. Azubuike Iloeje (Nna ndi Enugu in Cross river), Comr. Arum Emmanuel Sorpuluchukw (Nat. Secretary General, NACESS), Comr. Nnamene Kingsley Arinzechukwu (Nat. Assistant Secretary General, NACESS), Comr. Eyim Stephen (Chief of staff to NACESS-CRS President) and Members of the Igwe-in-Council.
