The Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Uche Ugwu felicitates the Muslim faithfuls on the occasion of this 2023 Eid El-Kabir celebration.

He urged them to remain steadfast in their prayers for our dear state and observe religious tolerance in their daily lives.

He also reminded them of the strong faith and sacrifices demonstrated by Abraham and encouraged them to tow the same line and make sacrifices for the unity and development of our land.

Mr. Speaker called for national unity and peaceful coexistence amongst all religions in our dear country, Nigeria, as he wished the Muslim ummah a joyous celebration.

Recall that Rt. Hon Uche Ugwu was elected Speaker of Enugu House of Assembly on 13th June, 2023.

The Clerk of the House, Dr. Emma Udaya had set the motion for the business of the day.

Iloabuchi Aniagu, Nkanu West State Constituency nominated Ugwu for the position of the Speaker.

The motion was seconded by Chukwudi Nwankwo, the Member-elect for Awgu South.

Following his nomination and subsequent acceptance of the nomination of Rt. Hon Uche Ugwu, and in the absence of any other nomination, was declared the Speaker.

“I hereby declare Hon. Uche Calistus Ugwu as the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly,” the Clark of the House, Clark of the House/Head of Legislative Service, Dr Emma Udaya said.
